When adding to the beauty of the central urban area around the place at St. Peter in Merzig the Dittgen Construction GmbH found remains of a Romanesque church were then found from the Middle Ages to St. Walburga . This is a video of the new stones going in the old parking lot.
Also, several tombs were discovered and excavated in the area around the church. Because of the historical finds , therefore, had to be rescheduled the proposed design in this area.
To blend contemporary and historical sense , it was decided to replicate the foundation of St. Walburga with sandstone slabs . This could be postponed because of the weight of up to 0.5 t per plate only mechanically (using a suction cup device which raises by a negative pressure the stone slab ) .
Later, the rest of the space is to be coated with a mastic asphalt , benches and a corresponding design of the outside plant finally a communicative meeting place for the people.
